A very small yet quality crop of Semillon was harvested in 2106, due largely to a severe frost in Oct. 2014 that affected budding wood for the 2015/2016 growing season. Towards the end of a conventional ferment, approx. 20% of the fermenting juice was transferred to new, Allier oak barriques, where fermentation was completed and with a further 6 months maturation in same. Prior to bottling, this lightly oaked portion was then blended back with the un-oaked portion. A rich, complex wine has resulted, showing ripe, varietal fruit, with enhanced palate complexity yet finishing with a crisp, fresh and balanced acidity. 1600 bottles produced.
